It all started with a question. 👉 “What are your guards made from?”
That simple question from Fonterra’s National Parts and Warranty Manager, Guy Cooper, sparked something big — a recycling network, product testing programme, a new material innovation, and eventually, RHINO’s independently verified product carbon footprint.
The recycled guards on the truck have been verified by Toitū Envirocare with a 76% lower carbon footprint compared to virgin-plastic guards.
Why it matters
Fonterra’s customers are driving change across the supply chain. They’re asking suppliers to show evidence of measurable sustainability progress — and Fonterra is leading by example. This initiative reduces embodied emissions and supports credible, circular manufacturing.
- 76% lower CO₂ footprint compared to virgin plastic
- Independently verified by Toitū Envirocare (ISO 14067:2018)
- Recycled locally using returned guards and RHINO’s in-house offcuts
- Supports traceable Scope 3 reporting and circular design
Doing the right thing matters. This collaboration shows how practical actions — returning guards, recycling material, verifying results — add up to real progress.
