THE PROCESS
Mark out and cut 190mm off each end of the SSHROUND extrusion with a Jigsaw or hacksaw (pictured SSHROUND was cut with Jigsaw). The finished span should be Ø1620mm.
Deburr the extrusion (if required)
Locate the SSHROUND with the top face flush against the edge of the PL12063. Slide the SSHROUND so it is 40-50mm from each end. (SSHROUND should be central to the guard span) Then apply a vice grip at the center to secure the SSHROUND to the guard.
Leave the clamp on and use a tape measure to mark out the center of the guard. 950mm from either end. 10mm up from the inside edge. Using the power drill and a Ø5mm drill bit, drill through the plastic and alloy at the correct location. Then use an Ø4.8mm rivet to secure the two parts.
With the first rivet in place and the SSHROUND secure to the guard. Mark out your next two rivet hole positions 510mm from both ends, both 10mm from the edge of the guard. Put a clamp in place next to each hole (next to, not covering) and repeat the drilling and riveting process.
With the first 3 rivets in place, mark out your next two rivet hole positions 70mm from both ends, both 10mm from the edge of the guard. Put a clamp in place next to each hole (next to, not covering) and repeat the drilling and riveting process.
Notes:
5 rivets per side keeps the SSHROUND secure. 4 should be enough, if time is an issue.
Use rivets with 15-20mm long heads and washers.
Recommended hole positions are symmetrical, for aesthetic reasons. They are not essential to securing the guard.
Holes can be marked out and drilled on the PL guard before clamping, drilling and riveting the SSHROUND. (Use the holes on the PL guard as your guide to drill the SSHROUND).
